This quick reference guide contains important instructions and date references to help ensure a seamless transition.

The Month Before | The Week of Transition | Your First Day

The Month Before

  • Review your contact information (address, phone number and email) with Carolina Bank to ensure that it is up to date. First Bank will be using this information to contact you about the transition.
  • If you receive your bills through online bill pay (eBills), consider cancelling your current service via Carolina Bank online banking, as some billers may take up to 60 days to reestablish eBills. You can reestablish eBills with First Bank on Monday, August 7.
  • For those who are receiving a new account number, First Bank checks or deposit tickets arrive 7-10 business days before Monday, August 7.
  • Your new First Bank debit card will arrive 7–10 business days before Monday, August 7, not yet activated.
  • If you use Quicken or QuickBooks, instructions can be found here for a smooth transition of your account information. While some steps cannot be done until the conversion is completed, we recommend reviewing these steps to familiarize yourself with the process.
  • Business customers: on Friday, July 14, new or changes to online, domestic wire and ACH templates will be temporarily unavailable after the close of business until Monday, August 7. Online international wire service and templates will not transfer but will be available for use again within 60 days of the conversion. Beginning August 7, you can First Bank Business Support for assistance with international wires.

The Week Of Transition

Wednesday, August 2

  • Address changes will be accepted until close of business.
  • Business customers: ACH submissions, wires, and tax payments may be submitted for processing until 4:30 pm. Effective dates can be no later than August 4. Please note that once the conversion to First Bank is complete, wire requests are only accepted in person or through online banking.
  • Last day to decision in Positive Pay in online banking. After August 2, we will make
    special arrangements with our Positive Pay clients to ensure your exception items are properly handled.
  • Remote deposit capture will be inaccessible after Wednesday, August 2. Customers who need to make a deposit on Thursday or Friday should bring those deposits to their nearest Carolina Bank branch.

Thursday, August 3

  • You can schedule bill payments until 8 am through online banking at Carolina Bank. This service will be unavailable until 9 am on Monday, August 7, when the transition to First Bank is complete.
  • Please complete all mobile check deposits and funds transfers before 4:30 pm.
  • Mobile, online and telephone banking services will continue to be available, but only for checking account balance and transaction information after 4:30 pm.

Friday, August 4

  • Download any transaction, check image and eStatement history that you need for your records. Once the transition to First Bank is complete, only a limited amount of transaction history will be transferred.
  • Mobile, online and telephone banking will be unavailable after 6 pm.
  • Thanks to heightened security measures added to First Bank’s online banking system, business clients will no longer need to use tokens at sign in for online banking after today.

Saturday-Sunday, August 5-6

  • There will be no access to online banking.
  • Continue to use your Carolina Bank debit card throughout the weekend until 9 am, Monday, August 7.

August 7, Your First Day
August 7 will be your first day as a First Bank client. There are some important steps to take on that day to make sure everything goes smoothly.
