A culture of respect and inclusion

We’re dedicated to helping our customers achieve their dreams, supporting our communities, and providing a positive and inclusive work environment for all of our employees. Our Promise to Service Excellence (our internal lodestar) guides everything we do, including our lending practices, vendor selection, how we hire, and the organizations we choose to support.

We know that together—by recognizing, respecting, and accepting our differences—we are a more successful bank, employer, and community partner.

The Corporate Diversity Council

Established in 2020, the First Bank Diversity Council represents the ideas and concerns of our associates regarding Diversity and Inclusion, and works to align these efforts with Our Promise to Service Excellence. The Council is led by Richard Moore, CEO of First Bancorp (First Bank’s holding company).

Council members:
  • Reflect a diverse mix of associates from various regions and departments of the organization.
  • Provide advice and assistance to leadership in promoting respect, inclusion, opportunity, and community in the workplace.
  • Recommend actions for improvement and identify barriers that impede progress.

The Council is focused on improvement in three key objectives:

Ongoing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training

All First Bank employees are encouraged to attend diversity, equity, and inclusion training as part of their professional development. Topics covered include exploring unconscious bias, equality versus equity, cultural diversity, and more. The goal is to continue to enhance empathy, expand understanding, and create a more open and welcoming culture in which everyone in the organization has opportunities to thrive.
