Your First Day as a First Bank Client

March 19 will be your first day as a First Bank client. There are some important steps you should take on day one to make sure everything goes smoothly.

To Do on Day One

Important things to remember and steps to take on your first day.

  • Your new First Bank debit card will automatically activate and you can begin using it as of 9 am. After that, you can change the temporary PIN on your debit card by using a First Bank ATM, visiting a First Bank branch or by calling First Bank at 1-866-792-4357.
  • Remember to update your information with trusted online merchants (e.g. Amazon, Apple, etc.). They will need your new debit card number, expiration date and 3-digit security code for direct billing to your new First Bank debit card.
  • Although your Asheville Savings Bank routing number will continue to work, for better speed and service for your direct deposits, change to First Bank’s new routing number: 053104568.
  • If you have received First Bank checks in the past month, you can begin using them. Your Asheville Savings Bank checks will continue to be honored unless your account number was changed.
  • Loan and deposit account information, schedule of fees, terms and conditions, as well as additional disclosures can be found in your First Bank Disclosure Guide.
  • If you use Quicken or QuickBooks, please review our simple and easy migration instructions on how to modify your settings for a smooth transition of your account information.
  • Complete the digital banking steps below.

24-Hour Telephone Banking Updates

For all our clients who find it easier to pick up the phone to check their balance, please update your contact list to First Bank’s telephone banking number: 1‑888‑518‑4636.

Other important changes:

Use the account number of each account you’d like to check. You’ll be given an option to set up a security PIN during the first time you call as well.

If you’d like to set up telephone transfers between your accounts, contact First Bank’s customer service team at 1‑866‑792‑4357 or visit your local branch.

Digital Banking First Time Login

Great news! You can log in to start your First Bank online and mobile banking on Monday, March 19 at 9 am. Follow the appropriate first time login instructions below to start your experience off right.

Personal Banking Customers

Log In ID

You will use the same online banking login ID that you used at Asheville Savings Bank.

Your Temporary Password

To log in to First Bank’s digital banking the first time, you will need a new, temporary password. Your temporary password will be the first four letters of your name in ALL CAPS, the last four digits of your social security number, a pound sign (#), and the letter “a”.

For example:
   Name – Thomas Smith
   SSN – 123-45-6789
   Temporary Password: THOM6789#a

If your name has fewer than four characters (e.g. Sue), then you will need to use a space for each blank. For example, SUE 6789#a.

Steps for Your First Log In

Follow these steps when you log in for the first time at First Bank.

  1. Enter your User ID in the Online Banking box on the right of our homepage LocalFirstBank.com and click Log In. Do not click “Enroll” on First Bank’s homepage.
  2. Enter your temporary password on the password page and click Continue. Do not click “Forgot Password” on this page.
  3. Next, you will be required to change your password. Your First Bank digital banking password will require:
    • Between 5 and 15 characters
    • At least one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character (!, $, &, etc.)
  4. You will also need to update your online profile. When prompted, please be sure to review it carefully, and change it as needed to reflect your current contact information, especially your key phone numbers.
  5. Finally, you will be presented with the Online/Mobile Banking Agreement for First Bank. Review the agreement, scroll all the way to the bottom, and click Accept.

Please note: your transaction history may not be immediately available at your first log in, but it will be systematically loaded the week of March 19.

Steps for Your Second Log In

On your second log in, you will be prompted to authenticate your computer or device to ensure your online banking experience is secure.

  1. Enter your User ID on our homepage and then click Log In.
  2. Enter your password on the password page and click Continue.
  3. You will be presented with your options for Secure Authentication Code delivery based on your profile information.
  4. Once you make a selection on delivery method, the page will wait for the code to be entered.
  5. When you receive the code either by voice call or SMS text message to the phone number selected, enter it in the Secure Access Code field and then click Submit.
  6. Next, you will be prompted to register your device. If you are on a public or shared computer, we strongly recommend that you do not register the device.
  7. Once a registration option is selected, you will be logged in to online banking.

As an increased security and fraud prevention measure, when you sign in from additional devices, you will be required to go through the Secure Access Code process again. But once your devices (PC’s, phones, tablets) are registered, you should not have to repeat it unless you update your browser, clear your cache, or delete your cookies.
