The Power of Good

When First Bank started in 1935, our mission was simple: do good by our community.

As we’ve grown into a large regional bank, our philosophy of doing good has expanded to include all aspects of ESG, from financial wellness and inclusivity in education and housing, to innovative lending programs designed for community development.

For us, it’s always been about more than banking. Doing good is in our DNA, and after nearly 100 years, we’re expanding and evolving that powerful mission in everything we do with the Power of Good.

Key Impact Areas

Our Power of Good projects, programs, experiences, and relationships reflect the good we’re doing together with our communities.

Innovative Educational Programs

At First Bank, we believe kids should learn how to manage money wisely and make informed financial decisions so they can enjoy a brighter financial future.

Through our active participation in the American Bankers Association’s Teach Children to Save efforts, our associates visit schools across the Carolinas to share valuable lessons in financial literacy with students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

In 2025, we dedicated more than 350 hours to providing financial education at nearly 170 schools, and First Bank donated more than $83,000 to local schools and nonprofits.
